R-Connect Online Portal

R-Connect telematics module and remote diagnostics as standard equipment

The ROPA Tiger 6S comes with the efficient telematics hardware including SIM card for online access as standard equipment. The telematics module is thus the basis for proactive Service 4.0 with predictive analytics and fast assistance and diagnostics if service is required on any continent. When service is required, if desired the service technician can switch directly to the terminal and the machine control and assist the driver, e.g. with problem-solving.

The dashboard shows the current status of the machines and the daily output. The location, road and harvesting travel along with the current harvesting progress of the various machines can be viewed in the individual view along with additional details. Finished orders are transmitted to the R-Connect portal where they can be viewed and evaluated by the machine schedulers in the R-Connect online portal as well as downloaded.

A lot of things are simpler with the R-Connect online portal

With the R-Connect online portal, many things are much easier, even if the concern is only bringing the driver a delicious lunch in the field.

Experience the numerous possibilities of the ROPA R-Connect and speak to your ROPA plant representative or sales partner.

R-Connect Monitor - silver medal at Agritechnica

R-Connect Monitor is the intelligent, fully automated image documentation during the sugar beet harvest. During harvest and when emptying the bunker, pictures with their assigned location are taken automatically. The images from the optional camera on the cabin roof for monitoring sugar beet crops before harvest and the camera images on the unloading conveyor for quality control of the harvest during bunker emptying are assigned to the harvest order on the R-Connect Portal.

The areas harvested, the yield (number of times the bunker was filled), and the position of the beet clamp can be documented from the sugar beet harvester. A visual record of the beet area before the harvest and also the result of the harvest can therefore be documented.

R-Connect Monitor for image documentation

The areas harvested, the yield (number of times the bunker was filled), and the position of the beet clamp can be documented from the sugar beet harvester. With this Agritechnica innovation, the sugar beet fields can be documented before harvesting and the crop yield documented visually.

  • Images taken with assigned recording location.
  • Documentation of the machine settings for the image.
  • During harvest and when emptying the bunker, pictures are taken automatically and assigned to the harvest order in the R-Connect Portal.

Innovations at Agritechnica 2019

  • Images of the sugar beet crop before harvesting combined with the machine settings and position data
  • Monitoring of harvesting for weeds
  • Monitoring of the sugar beet crop for diseases such as rhizoctonia, cercospora, and nematodes
  • Optional additional manual image documentation if irregularities make harvest more difficult, e.g. water in the field, foreign bodies, utility poles, overseeding, etc.
  • Images during the discharge process for quality control and documentation of the crop
  • Documentation of impurities on the ground and weeds in the beet clamp are valuable information for transport logistics with regard to time, suitability of the sugar beets for storage, etc.
  • If necessary, contractors and harvesting coops can use the images to argue increased work (harvesting costs) with the contracting farmers
  • Much sensor data about speeds, pressures, volume measurements, etc. have much greater validity thanks to the additional display of images for the measurement values!

Presentation of R-Connect in live operation at Agritechnica

Benedikt Gebhardt (ROPA software development) presents the ROPA R-Connect Portal at Agritechnica 2019 in live operation.

Thank you very much to our selected customers who agreed to the live presentation of their machines with data during Agritechnica 2019.

Remote diagnosis, assistance, and maintenance

At Agritechnica in Hannover, ROPA presented the new Tiger 6s, which is networked with the R-Connect Portal via the standard telematics module. ROPA received a silver medal at Agritechnica for the innovation of the R-Connect monitor for completely automatic image documentation during the sugar beet harvest.

Now online service is the focus of development for the R-Connect online portal.

If the driver needs service assistance, he can receive remote assistance thanks to the R-Connect online service. In the future, new functions for predictive maintenance will help reduce downtimes.

Since 2018, the first ROPA sugar beet lifters and cleaner-loaders have been sending their data to a cloud. The latest models (Tiger 6S, Panther 2S and Maus 6) even do this as standard. The machines store nearly all sensor data on German services, which means that there are a lot of possibilities, from tracking to order processing. You can read how a practitioner uses the portal in the box on page 108.

While in the beginning, ROPA focused on the management software from farmpilot (profi 2/2018), the company's goals are different today. Due to the variety of platformw within the cultivation, logistics and harvest chain - both locally and globally - ROPA is now forcing an independent system: without agrirouter, on a direct path to the cloud.

"The XML standard is not sufficient for our requirements," explains Michael Gruper, Division Manager for Sugar Beet Technology. "We need a simple and especially stable system. The past has demonstrated that all components that do not actually belong to the machine are too subject to errors," reports the specialist. And he adds: "From the power supply of the tablet PC to the cabled or wireless connection up to manual data transfer, there were repeated problems." That's why the manufacturer is now trying to integrate all the building blocks into the machine terminal and its own online portal. While, for example, fleet management and the transmission of sugar beet fields planted is not yet possible, the cornerstones for this have been laid, reports Gruber: "We are at a point where all relevant data is collected."

GOOD TO KNOW

  • In particular, making service work easier and collecting order data are the focal point
  • The basis is created, additional developments will follow
  • The R-Connect online platform has been expanded to include the myuRopa management level

Basis: myRopa.com

Initially, the developers planned the R-Connect portal, but there is now also a second, higher-level platform 'myropa.com'. This portal is for the machine owners. It stores all customer-specific data. For example, the chassis numbers, the specific equipment and the software versions of all electronic components. What seems irrelevant to practice at first glance helps tremendously in case service is needed, for example.

One of the newest functions of myRopa is order and customer management; data for this can be imported as a CSV file and is then available on the connected machines. In the future, it will also be possible to set up driver access and order spare parts. Similarly, this platform will be used to connect with service technicians. Furthermore, additional documents, maintenance notices, and histories of spare parts replaced are also stored for each machine. In the future, a digital machine file will be created, where all repairs and service work are stored. On request, the portal also provides service notices, for example about oil changes.

CLOUD FOR THE SUGAR BEET - THE ONLINE PORTALS MYROPA AND R-CONNECT

profi reported about R-Connect for the first time in 2018. On the way to the finished portal, the programmers have learned new things, discarded what they didn't need and developed visions. Here's an update.
