For the development of new machines, we rely on state-of-the-art production technology: a 5-axle machining center from DMG MORI now helps us manufacture prototypes and pre-series components.
Since test phases of our harvesters are seasonally related, quick and flexible parts production is crucial. The new machining center produces a wide variety of components in small quantities and significantly reduces the time from CAD model to finished part. At the same time, we are also using the additional capacity to produce series components that flow directly into our assembly.
A double-wheel magazine with 183 slots ensures a smooth, quick tool change. In addition to a larger selection of tools, heavily loaded tools can be double-fitted, so that the machining center can keep on working without an operator even across longer periods. This is especially advantageous when it comes to building prototypes.
The system is complemented by a pallet automation system with 18 storage spaces. This way, components can be prepared even while machining is ongoing. Parallel setup during operation significantly increases utilization. The 18 storage spaces enable autonomous work at night. For optimal use, we use ROPA-made clamping towers, which can process 12 or 20 parts at the same time.
With this investment, we are making our development more efficient and we will continue to offer customers high-performance machines with the proven ROPA quality in the future.
