ROPA Symposium 2024 before the Open House

On the morning of the 13th October 2024, before the grand Open House demonstration at ROPA Rhineland, an exclusive symposium took place for exclusive guests. The speakers included renowned experts who discussed current challenges and future trends in agriculture. With around 400 participants, the event provided a valuable opportunity to discuss technological innovations and pioneering solutions in the plant cultivation sector. The symposium served as the perfect opening event for the Open House day full of exciting demonstrations and discussions on the most up-to-date agricultural technology.

 

 

 

 

 

Frank Lampenscherf, Head of the ROPA Rhineland subsidiary, welcomed the participants and briefed them on developments at the location.

 

 

 

 

 

After this, Dr. Eberhard Krayl, Managing Director of ROPA, reported on the latest news from the ROPA headquarters in Sittelsdorf and the international subsidiaries. The announcement of a new logistics centre with a covered hall area of 2.4 hectares was particularly fascinating. More information will follow soon on the ROPA website.

 

 

 

The symposium focussed on the presentations given by the renowned experts.
Werner Bauereisen, Head of Sales ROPA Sugar Beet Technology, moderated the symposium.

Max Erath (Crop advisor at N.U. Agrar) highlighted the ‘Influence of extreme weather on nutrient dynamics in the soil’ and emphasised the need for adaptation in agriculture.

Heinz Leipertz (Head of Rhineland Region, Pfeifer & Langen GmbH & Co. KG) spoke about ‘Current developments in beet and sugar’, the associated environmental requirements and market changes.

Ferdi Buffen (Managing Director at Wilhelm Weuthen GmbH & Co. KG) discussed the ‘Market development and growth opportunities in potato cultivation’ and predicted an additional cultivation area of up to 50,000 hectares by 2035 in the European potato sector.
