Beet harvest in northern China: efficiency and customer satisfaction thanks to technology and a local service network

Northern China, particularly the provinces of Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia, is the heartland of sugar beet cultivation in China. Sugar beet is cultivated there on a total area of around 200,000 hectares. For the 2025 season, sugar beet production in China is estimated at around 1.6 million tonnes.

Since the first ROPA beet harvester was delivered to China in 2010, the number of machines has grown steadily. While new machines were primarily purchased in the initial phase, recent years have shown a trend towards the acquisition of used machines.

Such a change happened for technical and economic reasons:
•   Operational reliability: The reliability of ROPA technology has proven itself under the demanding conditions in northern China.
•    Practical experience: Drivers and service technicians are now thoroughly familiar with operation and maintenance.

Milestone in Inner Mongolia

In order to provide professional support for the growing machine fleet, at the start of the campaign, ROPA's partner Beijing Ainong Masai opened a new service branch for ROPA in China, in the city of Eerguna in Inner Mongolia.

The facility is 100 metres long and 24 metres wide, with capacity for the simultaneous maintenance of 10 machines. In addition to ROPA machines, exported sugar beet harvesters from other manufacturers are also prepared here for the campaign. A new office building with accommodation for service technicians during the harvest season has been constructed to complete the facility. The Managing Director, Mr Xiao, received the official certificate, a key part of the celebrations.
