On June 22-24, 2022, ROPA France hosted its first Open House of the Golancourt branch, located about 120 km north of Paris. This subsidiary was established in 2000 as a direct sales and service centre in France with an extensive spare parts warehouse.
More than 1,300 invited guests, including many customers and experts in the fields of the sugar beet harvesting and loading technology, potato technology as well as wood energy came to take part in the event organised by the ROPA's subsidiary in France.

The visitors could take a tour of the entire site. Among other things, they could also see the spare parts warehouse built a few years ago and the modern office building.

The customers had the opportunity to meet the ROPA France teams from sales, warehouse and service departments as well as the management of ROPA GmbH. Hermann and Marianne Paintner arrived with their daughter Carolin Paintner to welcome the visitors. Managing Director, Dr. Eberhard Krayl informed visitors about the latest company news and technical innovations. Julien Carrière, Managing Director of the ROPA France subsidiary, also explained the ongoing expansions of the Golancourt branch and in particular additional construction of 1,800 m² premises for service workshop.

The history of ROPA France

ROPA France was founded in 2000 by Julien Carrière in the existing buildings of the family farm in Golancourt (Oise). Before becoming a technician, the son of a farmer completed an internship at ROPA GmbH, and later he initiated and became the Managing Director of the French subsidiary. The Golancourt (Oise) site is located in the heart of the most important sugar beet and potato cultivation region and in close proximity to French and Belgian customers.
The enthusiasm and steadily growing demand for ROPA harvesters and cleaner-loaders caused the construction of a new workshop in 2004, in which up to 5 machines could be worked with at the same time. In 2009, ROPA France started distribution of ALBACH chippers in order to diversify its activities. These self-propelled machines, which are also manufactured in Bavaria (Germany), are now considered the benchmark on the wood energy market for their quality of work and performance. The launch of ROPA's potato harvesting technology in 2013 caused opening of a new ROPA France branch in Janville (Eure-et-Loir) two years later. The latter boosted sales of potato harvesters and led to further reinforcement of the service network for sugar beet farmers to the south of Paris. In 2016, the growing number of machines sold required further expansion of the subsidiary. The size of workshop and spare parts warehouse doubled. The workshop area was expanded to 1,600 m², while the spare-parts shop has been refitted with a self-service room of 100 m² and another 1,300 m² of spare parts storage area. The warehouse stocks a total of more than 12,000 different items distributed across 7 km² of shelf space and valued at EUR 7 million. In addition, the spare parts warehouse was equipped with two vertical Kardex storage systems to optimise the storage and logistics of the small parts. The company also built a washing hall and large buildings for storage and marketing of used machines. The construction of a new 500 m² office building with 8 offices, 2 conference rooms and a canteen was completed in 2017. In 2018, ROPA France decided to expand its agricultural product portfolio by BERGMANN beet cleaning wagons to meet the customer requests and further optimise the output of the ROPA harvesters while maintaining the best working quality. Two years later, ROPA France added BERGMANN's spreaders, silage trailers and other overloading trailers to its sales portfolio. Also in 2020, the company expanded its business in the wood energy segment with the trailed and truck-mounted chippers of the Swiss manufacturer WÜST, as well as the biomass sieve equipment of the Bavarian manufacturer ALZINGER Maschinenbau.
Today, about 70 employees, including 10 trainees, are working at ROPA France. Around 30 workshop vehicles enable each technician to provide service to customers in France and Belgium 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In 2022/2023, in order to maintain the high quality of service, the French subsidiary is investing more than EUR 1 million in a new workshop of 1,800 m², a storage platform for the machines and a new paint shop.
