We rely on state-of-the-art processing technology in the development of new machines. Now, we use a 5-axis machining centre from DMG MORI to help us manufacture prototype and pre-series components.

Since the test phases of our harvesting machines are seasonal, fast and flexible production of components is a crucial factor. The new machining centre manufactures a wide variety of components in small quantities and significantly reduces the process time from CAD model to final component. At the same time, we also use the additional capacity for the production of series components that pass directly to our production centre.

A double-wheel magazine with 183 slots ensures smooth and fast changeover of tools. In addition to a large selection of tools, frequently used tools can be loaded twice, allowing the machining centre to continue operating without an operator for longer periods of time. This is particularly advantageous in the prototype construction.

The centre also includes a pallet handling system with 18 pallet stations. In this way, components can be prepared while machining is still in progress. Parallel setup during main processing time significantly increases workload capacity. Thanks to 18 pallet stations autonomous night-time operation is also possible. For optimum utilisation, we use clamping towers manufactured in-house by ROPA, which can be used to process 12 or 20 parts simultaneously.

This investment will help us to further streamline our development process and continue to offer our customers high-performance machines in the proven ROPA quality.
