We are delighted to announce that our long-standing partner Aktas has successfully opened its new ROPA centre in Konya. Congratulations to the entire Yeni Aktas team and especially to the Aktas family! The opening ceremony was attended by an impressive number of people, which is a clear sign of success and recognition in Turkey. We are proud to be part of this successful partnership and look forward to our successful co-operation in the future.

Opening ceremony programme

The festivities began at around 1.00 pm with the Imam praying for the success of the new site, followed by a sacrificial feast. Faruk Aktas, Marianne Paintner, Dr. Eberhard Krayl, Tarkan Aktas and Hacı Aktas cut the ribbon together to open the new centre.

Faruk Aktas delivered an introductory speech, after which Dr. Krayl welcomed the guests and shared his thoughts. Mrs Paintner and Dr Krayl handed Mr Aktas a gift and the celebration continued with a festive meal and lively discussions until around 5.00 pm.

Short overview of the sugar industry in Turkey:

- The sugar beet cultivation area in Turkey totals impressive 330,000 hectares
- There are 33 sugar factories in Turkey, 25 of which are state-owned and 8 private

 

ROPA's presence in Turkey:

- 120 ROPA machines are in use currently
- According to data provided by Faruk Aktas, the market share of ROPA machines equates to 90 % for the sugar beet loaders and 40 % for the sugar beet harvesters

The spare parts warehouse stocks materials worth around 400,000 euros. Three service vehicles and a lorry with a low-loader for transporting the machines provide customer service support.

There are currently 6 people working in Konya, including 3 mechanics, 1 welder, 1 accounting employee and 1 cook. The new branch occupies a total of 3,000 square metres, of which 900 square metres is the workshop, 300 square metres is the office and the rest is open space.
